Separation
Have you separated, and is someone from your household moving out of the shared residence, and do you have questions about this?
To notify us of the separation in writing, please use the “VÄM” Change Notification form.
Change notification
If you are married, you should provide proof of separation by submitting a declaration of separation. You can submit this to the tax office, where you will receive a corresponding confirmation. Please submit this proof to us along with Form VÄM (Notification of Change).
If you are not married and you or your partner has already moved out of the shared residence, please provide us with proof of this in the form of a certificate of residence.
If the separation is initially taking place while you remain in the shared household, please notify us of this using Form VÄM (Notification of Change).
Your benefits will be calculated without your partner’s needs and income starting from the date of separation. Your housing will also be re-evaluated for appropriateness. For information on what happens if your housing is deemed inappropriate and under what circumstances this applies, please refer to the “Housing” section.
If the partner who has moved out continues to need basic income support, they must submit a new application.
