Housing allowance
Housing allowance is a social benefit that low-income families receive to help them pay their housing costs. Housing allowance is also intended to prevent people from having to claim welfare benefits. The housing allowance can be granted to tenants of an apartment/room, subtenants, but also to owners of a house or condominium (mortgage subsidy).
Housing allowance & citizen's income
Housing benefit cannot be claimed at the same time as citizen's income. If you already receive citizen's income, you should only apply for housing benefit if it is sufficient to cover your living expenses and you can stop receiving citizen's income.
